Why Postcode Energy?

If you've ever tried to find out how energy-efficient a property is, what the solar potential of an area looks like, or how clean the local electricity grid is, you'll know the information exists, it's just scattered across dozens of different sources.

Government EPC registers, grid carbon trackers, air quality databases, solar irradiance models, energy pricing APIs. The data is out there, but nobody has pulled it together in a way that's actually useful for the people who need it most: homeowners, buyers, renters, and landlords.

That's what Postcode Energy does. One postcode gives you the complete energy picture of a location. EPC ratings, renewable potential, grid carbon intensity, air quality, and energy costs, all in one place, with no estate agent required.

Energy transparency shouldn't be hard to come by. Whether you're choosing your next home, improving the one you're in, or managing a portfolio of properties, you deserve clear, accessible data to make informed decisions.

About me

Mark Brown, founder of Postcode Energy

Hi, I'm Mark Brown, a software engineer who's passionate about renewables, EVs, and leaving the world a little better than I found it.

I've been an owner, a landlord, and a renter. Every time, the same problem came up: getting real transparency about a property and its area, especially anything energy-related, without having to go through an estate agent first. I wanted that information before I got in contact, not after.

What started as a personal frustration quickly became something bigger. Energy data isn't a niche concern anymore, it's becoming essential. Rising energy costs, net zero targets, and a growing awareness of how our homes impact the environment mean people need better tools to understand the energy story of where they live.

So I built Postcode Energy. It combines my experience as a software engineer with a genuine belief that everyone should have easy access to the energy data that matters to them.
